Have you ever wondered how it feels to be an evil witch who wants to do good? What must it be like to love somebody who had to kill to stay alive? And why would you care about others if the entire world hated you?
Well, I have. And I wrote a book. In over 100,000 words spread over 326 pages and divided into 28 chapters, I have transformed a weird dream I had into a story about good and evil, love and struggle, conflict and sacrifice, Vikings and witches – but most of all, about people with their hopes and problems.
On this page, I'll share some of the behind-the-curtain stories with you.

When I thought being an author was about writing a book, I might have been a little naive. Don’t get me wrong; you need the content—your story—to start this journey. But then the real work starts. Edits, rewrites, layouts, critiques, covers, campaigns—you name it. Every aspect can take up so much time, especially when one has a tendency to be a perfectionist. Hence, I set myself a deadline.
My book will launch on June 21st, 2024—on Midsummer.
This plan leaves me twenty-one weeks to get everything finished. And I have ambitious goals like recording an audiobook and running a Kickstarter campaign. Everything while having an intense day job.
Over the weeks until my book is released into the wild, I’ll write a weekly blog to talk about one aspect and/or detour of my journey. Next week, I’ll start with the story of how I got this silly idea for a book in the first place.

While skiing in France with my family, I had an unusually vivid dream about a young witch who's cursed to be evil yet yearns to be good. When I woke, I remembered the story like a movie I've seen—with tension, scenery, seeming defeat, and the grand finale. Feeling soar from the day before, I excused myself, stayed in the apartment, and put quill to parchment. I had never written anything longer than a Christmas card before. Nonetheless, I was sure I would attempt to capture this fascinating story in my very first fantasy novel.
I have always enjoyed challenging the preconceived notions of evil and good. Among my favorite fictional characters are the disdainful Professor Severus Snape of the Harry Potter Universe, the cynical crippled torturer Sand dan Glokta of the First Law Series, and the immoral assassin Royce Melbourne of the Riyria Revelations, who all three end up saving the world.
How must it feel to be an evil witch who wants to be good? What must it be like to love somebody who had to kill to stay alive? And why would you still care about others if the entire world hated you? The answers are in my book ;)
